Our D2D LEO-sat/NTN NaaS-platform

For the large scale and quick market adoption of Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) services, there are still some important barriers to overcome, such as:

• Limited scope of 3GPP release 17 which will lead to proprietary solutions

• Services fragmentation resulting from the specific 5G frequency bands and D2D LEO-satellite/NTN terminal design used by the different operators

• D2D LEO-satellite/NTN operator´s systems failing to meet reseller´s requirements

• Different service deployment / integration models used by each D2D LEO-satellite/NTN operator

• Generic roaming proposed by some of these NTN operators which cannot meet requirements for complex 5G applications.

To solve the different barriers, we have developed the Planet Earth Connect platform. This is an independent NaaS multi-tenant platform that provides operators, system integrators, IT solution providers, and global organisations the possibility to:

• Obtain a full NTN / Terrestrial Network (TN) 5G multi-connectivity solution from one platform based on the proprietary standards developed by the different NTN operators

• Source the whole range of NTN services from just one organisation

• Benefit from just one consistent deployment / integration model for the whole range of NTN services

• Have access to a full Virtual Network Operator Enabler (VNE) platform containing all the Core Network, BSS, and OSS elements necessary for the development and management of an own range of highly tailored services

• Create and let their clients roam on to their own tailored slice of the NTN services guaranteeing service consistency and QOS.

This will enable each reseller organisation to become a Virtual Network Operator (VNO) with access to all these 3GPP-standardized NTN RANs in the sky.
